What is PPGI Steel

Durable Color-coated Steel for Modern Construction

PPGI (Pre-painted Galvanized Iron) is produced by coating galvanized steel with high-quality paint systems through continuous roller coating and baking processes.

It combines excellent corrosion resistance, attractive appearance, lightweight structure and long-term durability, making it ideal for industrial and commercial applications.

  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Lightweight and easy processing
  • RAL color customization support
  • Long service life
  • Suitable for roofing and cladding

Process Overview

Continuous Color Coating Workflow

The PPGI line integrates substrate preparation, chemical treatment, primer coating, finish coating, curing, cooling and recoiling into one continuous production workflow.

Full process steps
01

Uncoiler

Steel coil is loaded and uncoiled to provide a continuous strip feed for the color coating line.

02

Welder

The tail of one coil is welded to the head of the next coil to keep the line running continuously.

03

Entry Looper

The entry looper stores strip length temporarily, allowing coil change and welding without stopping production.

04

Degreasing

Oil, dust and surface residues are removed from the steel strip before pretreatment and coating.

05

Pretreatment

Chemical pretreatment improves paint adhesion, corrosion resistance and long-term coating performance.

06

Primer Coating

Primer coating is applied to build a stable base layer and improve bonding with the finish coating.

07

Primer Baking Oven

The primer layer is baked and cured under controlled temperature to form a durable base coating.

08

Primer Cooling

The strip is cooled after primer baking to stabilize the coating before the finish coating stage.

09

Finish Coating

The finish paint layer is applied according to the required color, gloss, texture and coating system.

10

Finish Baking Oven

The finish coating is baked and cured to achieve required adhesion, durability and surface performance.

11

Finish Cooling

The coated strip is cooled after finish baking to stabilize the paint film and surface quality.

12

Exit Looper

The exit looper balances downstream speed and supports smooth continuous recoiling.

13

Recoiler

The finished pre-painted steel strip is recoiled into PPGI coils for packaging, storage and shipment.
